Robert M. Fletcher received a Bachelor of Arts degree in landscape architecture in June, 1977 from the University of California, Berkley. He began his own residential practice shortly thereafter and specialized in designing private gardens in southern California. Fletcher was also a garden historian and lectured at the UCLA Extension Program, Department of Arts from 1981 to 1985. His work has been featured in dozens of magazine articles. Mr. Fletcher died in 1995.
